The Mugendo Association of Ireland was formed in 1991 by Stewart Beattie, Desy Murphy and Michael McDermott.

We teach a karate style syllabus for grading and although we promote light and full contact continuous kickboxing we also teach semi, light & full-contact kickboxing. We have clubs in Antrim, Armagh, Louth, Sligo, Leitrim & Tyrone. M.A.I has countless National, European and World Champions in our organisation. We hold Black Belt gradings once a year and winter and summer seminars. We promote full & light contact ring shows in different parts of Ireland. Stewart, Michael and Desy have between them over 100 years of martial arts experience.

Our aim was to build an association that would one day be able to offer financial assistance to any members who were travelling to European or World Championships. We also seen the need to get competition experience for our novice students along with the more experienced.
